As you probably know by now, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store has four signature Christmas styles – Traditional, Woodland, Whimsical and Elegant.
I promised a few posts ago that I would share some decorating and style tips to help prepare for this coming Christmas and, now that the Christmas season begins in less than a month, I figure I better get started now!
The Traditional Christmas collection, featuring classic Christmas style, will be the focus of this post. I’ll give you some tips on how to create a Traditional Christmas look for your home that’s sure to put everyone in the Christmas spirit!
Oh, Christmas Tree
A Christmas tree enhances the atmosphere of the entire room and is one of the first things people notice. Everything from the location, lights, ornaments, topper, tree skirt and more provide a delightful addition to any room your tree adorns.
Once you’ve picked out your tree and the perfect location to display it, you’ll want to begin by stringing soft white lights around the tree. I recommend going with a pre-lit tree, unless you have your heart set on a real one. Imagine all the time you’ll save by not untangling all of those lights, though!
I prefer wrapping the tree skirt around the bottom and placing an angel or star on the top of the tree before adding ornaments. I’ve knocked off and broken several ornaments while trying to add a tree skirt or angel topper after decorating a tree, so I know a thing or two about it.
Decorate the tree with red, white, green and gold ornaments of angels, snowflakes, cardinals and more that will stand out while hung on the beautiful green tree. If you have some nostalgic ornaments, add those to the tree and make it your own.
Wrap colorful ribbon around the tree for an extra pop of color and add a festive sign for some fun flair!
As soon as you’re done, I suggest sitting back and admiring your masterpiece!
What You Bring To The Table
Christmas tableware should be gorgeous enough to be displayed, yet versatile enough to enjoy the entire season. Pick a pattern you adore and your table will never be a bore.
Once you have your plates, bowls, mugs, etc. picked out, it’s time to decide how you want to decorate the table. A centerpiece can be as simple or as elaborate as you like, but I enjoy being somewhere in-between.
Create a Christmas scene for your table decor with a variety of pieces that all come together for one gorgeous look. Pick out a few main pieces, arrange them in the center of the table and use garland, ornaments from the tree, leftover ribbon and more to accent.
Enjoy your table decor all season and your guests will be impressed when they come over for dinner!
Spruce Up Your Fireplace Space
The fireplace is another great space to decorate during the holidays. Refresh your fireplace decor and you will love your fireplace even more!
In my opinion, a wreath over the fireplace is a must! You can always go with a traditional wreath and it will look great, or you can find a nostalgic wreath that will add some additional charm to your Traditional Christmas look.
As far as garland and stockings go, you can’t go wrong with a spruce garland and classic stockings for the mantel.
When topping your mantel with festive decor, a great way to decorate the space is to start with matching decor on the ends and work your way in with a variety of pieces that range in size and height.
Place a couple of larger pieces at the base of the fireplace for the finishing touch and you’ll want to cozy up by the fire more often this Christmas!
