That rumbling in your tummy can only mean one thing. You’re hungry! And this time, not any old food is going to satisfy. You want something warm, comforting and delicious, just like mom used to make.

You’ve come to the right place!

At Cracker Barrel, we’ve been pleasing people with homestyle food made with care for over 50 years. Maybe you’ve seen one of our interstate signs along the highway and never stopped in. Maybe you’ve heard the name, but haven’t had the chance to experience some of our good old-fashioned country cooking. Our menu may have changed here and there over the years, but our commitment to providing high quality meals for a fair price hasn’t.

Making a meal decision can be tough, but it doesn’t have to be. We’re here to answer that infamous question everybody asks when they pull up a chair and take that first glance at our paper menus.

“What’s good here?”

(All of it, but we’re biased). So, we checked with our guests to learn their favorites and compiled the 10 most popular menu items that you should try at Cracker Barrel.

The perfect combination of sweet and savory. Two Buttermilk Pancakes hot off the griddle, two farm-fresh eggs , a sampling of Thick-Sliced Bacon, Smoked Sausage, plus Sugar Cured or Country Ham. Served up with a side of Fried Apples or Hashbrown Casserole , and it’s easy to see why this makes our list as a classic Cracker Barrel meal. We hope Grandma would be proud of us.

8. Southern Fried Chicken

We couldn’t call ourselves true Southerners if our Fried Chicken didn’t make the list! Luckily, our guests love our crispy and savory Fried Chicken as much as we do!

Our Southern Fried Chicken is cooked with care using our special recipe seasoning, fried until it’s golden brown, and served with honey for drizzling. Pair it with some creamy mac n’ cheese or some country sides of your choice with hand-rolled Buttermilk Biscuits, and you’ve got the ultimate Southern meal. (You might just have a Southern accent when you’re finished).

7. Chicken Fried Chicken

Our Chicken Fried Chicken is so scrumptious we had to include it in the name twice! We take a generous portion of our juicy Homestyle Chicken breast and top it with savory Sawmill Gravy. It’s the perfect meal for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Grab a glass of some Sweet Tea or your favorite alcoholic beverage and take a well-deserved break today. You deserve it!

6. Roast Beef

Want to know if you’re eating a great roast beef, here’s the trick. Take your fork and twist off a forkful of meat to watch it separate with ease and you’ve got a winner. We take thick-cut USDA Choice chuck roast and slow roast it for up to 14 hours until it’s fork-tender and perfectly juicy. Don’t forget the mashed potatoes with gravy. Then give yourself a pat on the back for making a great choice.

5. Country Fried Steak

A homestyle favorite, we start with USDA choice steak, pan fry it, and top it off with our Sawmill Gravy seasoned and cooked with pork flavors, salt, and black pepper. For the ultimate sampling of Southern hospitality, pair it with a side of our creamy mashed potatoes and hot buttered corn, and you’ll see why our guests keep coming back for more.

4. Grilled Chicken Tenders

Guests looking for some lighter fare will find a lot to love with our Grilled Chicken Tenders. Our tenders are marinated and cooked to the perfect temp, bursting with flavor. Pair them with some broccoli, fresh fruit, and you’ve got a great meal that’s under 400 calories. Who says eating healthy can’t be delicious? (Alright, you can have at least one biscuit!)

3. Meatloaf

We would do anything for love, but we won’t be spilling the beans on our special recipe for this tasty and popular dish. Bustling with tomatoes, onions, and green peppers, our meatloaf is sure to please. Perfect for a hearty lunch break or satisfying dinner, we suggest pairing it with a side of creamy macaroni n’ cheese and a country vegetable, or two of your choice.

2. Chicken n’ Dumplins’

We sell over 11 million orders of Chicken n’ Dumplins a year, and there’s a good reason why. We slow simmer them right in our kitchen for a perfect homemade taste. Tender white meat chicken with strips of dough, covered in a hearty helping of creamy, rich chicken broth. Pair it with a couple of our country sides like steamed carrots and green beans and Biscuits or Cornbread, and you’ve got the definition of “comfort food” sitting right on your plate.

Honorable Mention: Country Vegetable Plate

Not in the mood for a big meal? Try our Country Vegetable Plate and enjoy a sampling of some of our favorite Cracker Barrel sides. There’s our famous Fried Apples or Hashbrown Casserole (which many have tried to replicate), or you can opt for something lighter like fresh corn, green beans, steamed carrots, seasonal fruit, or tangy Cole Slaw. Throw in some handmade Biscuits or Cornbread, and we guarantee you won’t leave hungry!

1. Momma’s Pancake Breakfast

Drumroll please…They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we couldn’t agree more. Especially when Our Mama’s Pancake Breakfast comes with three buttermilk pancakes, two farm-fresh eggs, and your choice of Thick-Sliced Bacon or Smoked Sausage. Top it off with 100% Pure Natural Syrup, and you’ll see why this takes the number one spot!

  1. I was recently at a Cracker Barrel and things have really changed! First of all the portions are smaller but the prices have gone up! The roast beef is the worst stuff ever, tough and fatty like chuck roast! The pancakes are half the size they used to be,mine fit on a saucer with about a inch to spare! They have switched bacon,,mine was very hard and mostly fat! They rarely fill the little bowls the sides are in all the ay up,usually half or maybe a little more full! The gravy for the biscuits is always to thick! Gravy is supposed to be able to pour over the biscuits! I am so disappointed in Cracker Barrel’s decisions at this point! If you see something that’s you don’t think is right put it in a comment!😎🇺🇸🇺🇸

    1. Hmmm…sounds like you started with breakfast and stayed around for dinner. My family has always enjoyed CB…with leftovers to take home.

    2. Edwin, like the lady said, you must have started with breakfast and moved through the whole menu trying everything out all day long
and finding fault with everything you touched.
I would think 99% of us would have left after the first disappointing meal and left it at that.
I have eaten at Cracker Barrell for more than 30 years and like all eating establishments,
they have suffered tough times since the pandemic started but hey, cut them a little slack.
Though we seldom eat out anymore
due to the current, universally poor service in the whole industry, we need a Cracker Barrell
for the long haul to fill a real need for good quality home style food at a competitive price
which we will hopefully enjoy again some day when things finally return to a degree of normality. In the meantime, we don’t intend to
crucify them in the marketplace by unfairly condemning every aspect of their business.

      1. You can have pancakes as a side and some in their party may have ordered all day breakfast while others had lunch or dinner. The last time I visited, the food was cold, we had no silverware or napkins for another 5 minutes and they were out of jelly for the biscuits. I took it home but never ate it

    3. Not every CB has the same cook, I aggre with you .panama city has the worst cooks there ,they can’t cook so listen when you hear someone tell the truth .

    4. You got to be kidding. Cracker Barrel is still one of the best eating places. Everything is cooked to perfection

    5. Have been going to Cracker Barrel since the 70s & loved it. My favorite? The catfish. Both the fried & the grilled. We love catfish & CB’s outdid most everyones’. Last year I went to CB with the family after not having gone for a while & looked forward to my usual. Was stunned to find out that Cracker Barrel – which specializes in southern regional favorites – had dropped fried catfish. One of *the* most iconic of southern regional favorites. They had replaced it with fish & chips, which I like, but is much more common place, and not a uniquely regional favorite. And they had added alcoholic drinks, even tho CB had always been more of a family dining experience, particularly along various roadstops. They sold their soul I thought. Sadly, we haven’t been back since.

    6. I dont know about your experience but the pancakes they serve me are the same size they have always been. Definately bigger than a saucer size. True, their prices have gone up but that goes for everything after Covid, Life is just not the same anymore. Sad.

    1. Alice just get you a small bag of Martha White buttermilk corn meal add what ever spice you like. Mix it in and batter your fish and you can add a couple of big tablespoons of plain flour to it for making it stick to your wet fish and.

    2. We went to C B a few weeks ago. Just for the Catfish. Told they no longer have it on the menu. Very disappointing

      1. I used to go to Cracker barrel just for the spicy grilled catfish. As it is no longer on the menu, I no longer go there.

  2. Cracker Barrel is the best country food and leaves you with wanting more either to eat there or to order and take home or both, worth the price and quality, service is extremely good as well as the food, thanks to the chef, and thanks to the crew all of them,, and we cannot forget about the store beautiful gifts, the recent last time we were there we spent $100.00 on gifts as well as the food but half on that. Star award and commendations for this place.

  3. Looking forward to the sampler platter and the chicken fried steak JUST EVERYTHING plus hopefully the gift store will have all the fun oldies but goodie treats from, years ago plus gifts for different holidays We loved the one how it offered anything you haven’t had in times gone by in Illinois

  4. Turkey and Dressing, sweet potato casserole with pecans, biscuits or corn muffins or one of each with sawmill gravey- it’s Thanksgiving every Thursday!! Absolutely scrumptious 😋

  5. Tried CB for the first time ever was very happy with the steak meal and sides everything was just right for the price steak cook the way I ordered sides very tasty and the gift shop was very nice didn’t buy anything and the staff was very pleasant. Think I might stop more often.

  6. Does Cracker Barrel sell their very delicious broccoli and ham casserole anymore?

  7. I been to CB 4 times first by myself the next 3 times with family members and we enjoy it. Now I don’t know about big portions the only place I know that give out big portions is Molly’s. But Molly’s fried chicken is nothing to CB Chicken. The only meal I didn’t like is Chicken and dumplings.

  8. My gosh what has happened to Cracker Barrell. It has been our go to place for family gatherings & on vacation for probably 30 + years but no more. I can understand that the pandemic has thrown a curve ball for all businesses but our last visit recently made our decision final. We arrived mid afternoon on a weekday & still waited almost an hour when it was obvious there were empty tables. Once seated we waited again for service all the while noting table had not been cleaned, floor littered with food scraps, etc. Once we had menus in hand we were, to say the least, shocked to find no chicken livers or lime beans listed. At that point we decided this would be our LAST visit to Cracker Barrell whether it be in our hometown or on the road.
    GOOD BYE Cracker Barrell!!

  9. I am very disappointed in Cracker Barrel. I ordered the hash brown casserole as one of my sides. It was horrible! They mixed the hash browns with mash potatoes. There was no taste to it and no cheese. I was informed by the Manager on duty that they have changed the recipe. Visit date 12/10/2022 about 7pm. Cracker Barrel in Corydon, IN
We waited an hr to be seated and when we were seated there was 14 tables around us that hadn’t had the dirty dishes cleared. The number of dirty tables were more than seated customers. We waited an Hour!
I didn’t realize Cracker Barrel had gone down hill. We will not be back.
    What a shame….

    1. I agree the Hashbrown Casserole is not the same, the manager where I am told me they used dehydrated potatoes now instead of fresh. No thank you.

    2. Unfortunately, that is very common in todays world, sadly. Restaurants are so short handed, no one wants to work ! The people who DO work are so overwhelmed, they have so much to do. They are trying their best. Please don’t blame CB, blame the pandemic who turned our world upside down.

  10. I love going to CB every chance I get. The hardest part is trying to figure out which of my favorite meals to get. Please keep the Peach tea and the deep-fried pickles.

  11. Whenever we travel we always stay near a CB. IN THE 25 years we have been eating there we have never been disappointed. My hubby played travel softball so we were all over the east coast and never failed to entry this restaurant chain. The gist center is an added bonus!!

  12. Well, my favorite menu items have always been fried okra and greens/cornbread. But now, I suppose I’ll be getting my fix elsewhere. Too bad, since I’m a native Tennessean and had confidence that Cracker Barrel was a restaurant that stuck to making good food. The downfall of companies is forgetting what they’re in the business of providing.
