    1. Yes it is if they are following Pescatarian. Pescatarian is under the vegetarian umbrella.

      1. Look I am a Muslim. All fish and most seafood is halal so this list is good for me but no it is not vegetarian.

      2. Sorry but Pescatarian is not vegetarian. They are two separate words describing two different diets. The definition of the word vegetarian does not include eating seafood.

    2. so the hashbrown casserole isn’t vegetarian, wonder if the seasonal broccoli casserole is? they dont seem to read the comments so guess i’ll never know for sure. agree that vegetarian IS NOT pescatarian otherwise why would there be 2 different words describing these 2 different diets?

    3. THANK YOU. I was so disappointed to see all of these fish dishes listed—and that lack of attention to detail makes me wonder if there are ingredients vegetarians should be concerned about in the other dishes included.

  1. Fish and shrimp are not vegetarian 😕Thanks for making an effort to be clear about some other details, like the oil products are fried in.

      1. A pescatarian is someone who maintains a vegetarian diet with the addition of fish and other seafood like shrimp, mussels, salmon, crabs and lobster. However, a pescatarian is not considered a vegetarian—the diets are separate from each other. A vegetarian diet excludes all animals.

    1. Pro Tip: By product of animal is vegetarian. You are thinking about Vegan. Also Fish and Seafood is Pescatarian which is a category under Vegetarian. Learn what is what before you start fussing over things.

      1. No. Any animal flesh is not vegetarian. Whatever this umbrella that you are referring to that says pescatarian is a type of vegetarian diet is flat out wrong. I am a nutrition specialist, so I feel pretty confident in saying this.

  2. Total fail! How much thought went into creating a vegetarian menu full of eggs, fish, and shrimp?! So, not a single person at Cracker Barrel corporate caught this total ridiculousness? This shows an extreme level of ignorance. It’s 2023, google it!!!

  3. I’m sorry crackerbarrel but this is really disappointing as someone who is vegan and will be traveling through the United States soon I was hoping to be able to get something but impossible sausage won’t suffice as a meal it’s 2023 surely you can do better !

  4. So just went to breakfast with our family who enjoy going to Cracker Barrel and we were just informed that you no longer carry the Impossible sausage which was one of a very limited menu for those of us that don’t eat animal products – I am disappointed in Cracker Barrel and will not return until you get some meat alternatives and maybe this doesn’t matter to your bottom dollar but our all vegan and vegetarian friends and organizations will also boycott

    1. Cry a river and just take your money elsewhere. People like you give us vegans and vegetarians a bad name.

  5. Take the seafood out.of the vegetarian.menu. just admit you have no veggie mains

  6. Thought I would post this here since I see so many people complaining about seafood being on the vegetarian menu. Also some complaining about the dairy and eggs…
First and foremost, fish/seafood is Pescatarian which is in fact a category under the Vegetarian umbrella. So that would in fact make fish and seafood vegetarian technically.
Animal By Products such as dairy and eggs also are Vegetarian.
    Lacto-Vegetarian, Ovo-Vegetarian, LactoOvo-Vegetarian
Vegan, Whole Food Plant Based, and Plant Based are the ones that do not eat fish/seafood, eggs, or dairy. Vegan are the only ones that do not eat any of that plus honey or even avocados.
So please people educate yourself on what actually is what before you start complaining about what a company offers on their menus. Also if you don’t like it, then don’t eat it. Simple as that.

    1. Pescatarians are not vegetarians, that’s why they’re called pescatarians. Fish in itself is a meat. If you look it up, the internet will tell you that pescatarian and vegetarian are not the same. This should be labeled as a pescatarian menu, not vegetarian.

    2. Pescatarians eat fish. Vegetarians don’t. It’s really that easy. Get out of here with your vegetarian umbrella crap. The whole menu is fish. What an absolute joke.

    3. Been a vegetarian for 25 years, and not a single ignorant person has ever told me that fish is vegetarian. Just a bit of advice – if it has eyeballs and breathes and you have to cut its heart out to eat it – it’s NOT vegetarian! FOH.

    4. Sorry, that’s simply not true. Even Chat GPT knows what a vegetarian is:

A vegetarian is a person who follows a dietary pattern that excludes the consumption of meat, poultry, seafood, and sometimes other animal-derived products. The primary focus of a vegetarian diet is on plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds.

There are different types of vegetarians, including:

Lacto-ovo vegetarian: This is the most common type of vegetarian. Lacto-ovo vegetarians do not eat meat, poultry, or seafood but include dairy products (lacto) and eggs (ovo) in their diet.

Lacto-vegetarian: Lacto-vegetarians avoid meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs but include dairy products in their diet.

Ovo-vegetarian: Ovo-vegetarians avoid meat, poultry, seafood, and dairy products but include eggs in their diet.

Vegan: Vegans follow the strictest form of vegetarianism. They avoid all animal-derived products, including meat, poultry, seafood, dairy products, eggs, honey, and sometimes even products like gelatin or certain food additives that are derived from animals.

    5. There is no such thing as Vegetarian umbrella. A pescatarian is someone who maintains a vegetarian diet with the addition of fish and other seafood like shrimp, mussels, salmon, crabs and lobster. However, a pescatarian is not considered a vegetarian—the diets are separate from each other. A vegetarian diet excludes all animals.

  7. These are just sad options. Basically breakfast and the million year old side plate. No invocation is the last 20 years? Give me a break, it is 2023 and there are so many simple and delicious vegetarian options. What about something as simple as portobello steak?

  8. It’s crazy to me that Cracker Barrel has left this fish nonsense on the vegetarian menu for months.

As someone who’s been vegetarian for 23 years, I can confidently say that fish isn’t vegetarian y’all. We get it, you don’t have any vegetarian mains, because like red beans and rice or some sort of pasta would be incredibly difficult to provide 🙄, but stop with this fish bs.

Also, is this person crying about how there’s a “vegetarian umbrella” and pescetarians fall under it on your payroll? Because they’re wrong, and repeating the same nonsense ad nauseum isn’t convincing anyone.

  9. This is a wild comment thread. I came here to see if anybody else had picked up on the glaring error in including fish under a “vegetarian” menu, and lo and behold, this thread delivered.

To the commenter “Yeahuh,” did you write this page in the first place and just don’t want to correct it? I can’t imagine why else you are so firmly entrenched in being wrong. Please open a dictionary and release yourself.

Pescatarians eat fish, but avoid other types of meat. Vegetarians do not eat fish or any other kind of meat. If you eat fish, you are by definition not a “vegetarian,” even if you are otherwise pretty close. But a little bit of murdering sentient creatures is still murder, even if they’re dumb water-bound robots and far from human sentience. That’s the distinction–the murder. The umbrella you might have been thinking of was “dietary preferences.”

I did not expect to be posting frustrated comments on a Cracker Barrel menu when the day started, but this has been cathartic. That’s my TED talk.
